Inside, the ceilings go up and don't stop. The main house runs open from end to end, all on a single level --- living room to dining to kitchen --- under soaring white vaulted ceilings, with tall arched windows and skylights keeping the whole floor bright well into the afternoon. Large-scale contemporary art hangs on nearly every wall, so the place reads like a private collection someone actually lives in. A fireplace anchors the living room, giving the open floor plan a natural place to gather once the sun drops.

The kitchen is the real center of gravity. A long stone island seats a crowd, custom dark cabinetry runs the length of the room, and the full appliance suite and beverage fridge are set up for someone who genuinely wants to cook. The dining table seats eight a few steps away, right where the glass doors slide open and the room becomes part of the yard.

A long pool and spa run the length of the yard, wrapped in blue-cushioned lounges and turquoise umbrellas, with a firepit at one end and a covered lounge with a TV at the other. The grill is built into an outdoor kitchen, and the dining table seats ten --- enough that most nights, nobody bothers going anywhere. Tall hedges close the whole thing in, and the light in this corner of LA does the rest.

When you do head out, the neighborhood delivers. West Third Street's restaurants and cafés are a short walk south, and Melrose Avenue's boutiques, vintage shops, and murals are the same distance north. The Original Farmers Market and The Grove are close enough to walk to for breakfast, Beverly Center sits just west, and LACMA and Museum Row are minutes away. The Sunset Strip is a few minutes up the hill, Beverly Hills is just over the line, and a morning hike at Runyon Canyon is an easy drive. This is one of the rare LA addresses where you can leave the car parked and still get to most of your day on foot.
