Nearly an acre of tall pines and open lawn, a few minutes from the lake, is a rare find on the south shore. Timber Acre Lodge has all of it: a private basketball court, a hot tub tucked under the covered patio, and a roomy wood-sided cabin where the whole crew can spread out.
Inside, the house opens up under tall, vaulted ceilings. The living room is made for long evenings, with a deep sectional, ceiling fans overhead, and a fireplace at its center. It flows into the full kitchen, which has plenty of counter space for group breakfasts, and a dining table that seats 10. For slower mornings, the breakfast nook sits by the windows looking out into the trees. A piano adds character for anyone who plays, and there are games on hand for quiet afternoons. Downstairs, a second living area with a TV gives everyone room to break off, and the laundry room makes longer stays easy.
There are four bedrooms and 2.5 baths. The primary suite has a king bed and a bath with a deep tub and a glass shower. Also upstairs, a bunk room with a full bed below and a twin above suits kids or friends who don't mind sharing. Downstairs, one bedroom has a queen, and the other pairs a queen with a twin-over-twin bunk, a good fit for a family.
Outside is where this place really stands apart. The top deck has the grill and an outdoor dining table for dinners in the open air. On the lower level, the basketball court and hot tub sit side by side, so a pickup game can end with a soak. Beyond that, the backyard stretches out under the pines, with plenty of lawn for running around, lawn games, or simply sitting outside with your coffee.
The house is on a quiet residential street, yet everything is close. Ski Run Marina is under a mile away for boat rentals, lake cruises, and waterfront dining. Lakeview Commons is about a mile away, a good spot for a beach afternoon or launching a paddleboard. Bijou Community Park and its nine-hole golf course are each about half a mile away, and the shops and restaurants at Heavenly Village, along with the gondola, are a short drive. Van Sickle Bi-State Park has trails that start right at the state line, and Nevada Beach is about 10 minutes away. For a day trip, follow the shoreline west to Pope Beach, Fallen Leaf Lake, and Emerald Bay.
