Bachelor is roughly forty minutes out for skiing in winter and lift-served mountain biking come summer, while Benham Falls and the lava fields at Newberry National Volcanic Monument sit around twenty minutes away. The rivers running through this stretch of forest are some of the best fly-fishing water in the state, and downtown Bend and the Old Mill District are about half an hour north when you want restaurants and riverfront shopping.
