There's a version of a Los Angeles trip that only works when you've got the room for it --- everyone under one roof, dinner outside, nobody watching a hotel checkout clock. The Martel House is built for that trip: six bedrooms behind a private gate, a pool out back, and Melrose Avenue a block up the street.
The back of the house is where the days go. A pool and hot tub anchor the space, ringed with lounge chairs for the long, unhurried middle of the afternoon. Come evening the BBQ goes on, the outdoor table sets for eight, and the group drifts toward the fire pit as the air cools off.
Inside, the layout is open and easy to move through. A deep sectional faces a large TV in the living room, with a modern fireplace built into the wall behind. The dining area seats eight and runs straight into a kitchen that can keep up with a group this size --- premium appliances, real prep space, room for two or three people to cook without colliding.
Six bedrooms give everyone somewhere to land. The primary is anchored by a king bed and a spa-inspired ensuite with a premium walk-in shower and a deep soaking tub. Three more king bedrooms each have their own ensuite bath, and two additional bedrooms share a Jack-and-Jill bathroom with a walk-in shower --- an easy setup for families or a group traveling together. All in, the home sleeps up to 12.
Then there's the neighborhood. Melrose runs a block north, lined with vintage racks, streetwear, murals, and coffee, and every Sunday the Melrose Trading Post fills the Fairfax High lot ten minutes up the sidewalk. West Hollywood picks up just west of here, where the avenue turns designer. The Grove and the Original Farmers Market sit under a mile south, Pan Pacific Park is closer still for a morning run, and Beverly Center is a few minutes by car. Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and the coast all pull easily from an address this central --- which is the trade The Martel House makes: the whole city at hand, and a gate to close behind you at the end of it.
