The name translates to "little house with the giant view," and only half of it is accurate. Casita Vista Gigante spreads 3,800 square feet across three levels in the Tristant community above Mountain Village, with the San Sophia Ridge filling the windows from nearly every room and the Telluride ski slopes reached by a funicular right outside the front door. Four bedrooms, four and a half baths, a private hot tub, and a real gym make this a home built for a group of eight that wants room to scatter and a good reason to regroup.
Log walls, timber beams, and a stone fireplace set the tone in the main living area, where a wall of windows frames the peaks. The gas fireplace anchors the seating, and after a day on the mountain it's the natural spot to land for a movie or to watch the ridge go pink at dusk. The open-concept layout keeps the kitchen in the conversation, with a wide range, plenty of counter to work on, a breakfast bar for slow mornings, and a dining table that seats eight for the long-dinner nights. In warmer months, the deck off the living area takes over: grill on the Big Green Egg and eat outside with the ridgeline as your backdrop.
Upstairs, the primary suite is a retreat of its own, with a king bed, mountain views, a flat-screen TV, and an ensuite that pairs a jetted soaking tub set beneath a window with a steam shower. A second king bedroom shares the floor, with a full bath just across the hall. Down on the lower level, two more bedrooms each hold a pair of twin beds and a flat-screen TV, one with its own ensuite and the other with a full bath steps away, and both open onto a shared balcony that looks straight out at the mountains.
Also on the lower level is a fitness room that goes well beyond the token treadmill: cardio machines, strength equipment, free weights, and open floor space for stretching or yoga. A full laundry room and a mudroom with gear cubbies round out the floor, so wet boots and skis have somewhere to live.
Then there's the hot tub, sunk into the lower deck and angled squarely at the San Sophia Ridgeline. Alpenglow hits the peaks in the evening, and this is where you'll want to be when it does.
Getting to the snow is simple. The Tristant community funicular sits steps from the front door and drops you onto the Village Bypass run, connecting into the rest of Telluride Ski Resort without a shuttle or a car. Mountain Village is an easy walk, too. The Village Market for groceries is about a quarter mile away with a free gondola station right beside it, restaurants and shops in Mountain Village Center are under half a mile, and the gondola glides you over to downtown Telluride and Colorado Avenue in roughly 15 minutes. Come summer, the same terrain turns into hiking and mountain-bike trails, the Telluride Golf Club is about a half mile away, and the town's festival calendar fills most weekends.
