Tucked into the woods of Brier Crest Woods in Blakeslee, Hidden Treasure is the kind of Poconos cabin that works in every season. The community lake and beach are two blocks away for summer swims and paddling, Big Boulder is about 10 minutes down the road for winter skiing and tubing, and Pocono Raceway is five minutes out for race weekends. The lot gives you nearly half an acre of trees, and in fall the whole street turns gold and red.
Inside, vaulted ceilings open up the main living space, and there is more than one way to warm it. A propane fireplace and an electric fireplace share the living room with a deep sectional and a wall-mounted TV, and a freestanding cast-iron wood-burning stove adds the kind of heat and crackle that makes a snowy night feel earned. The dining table sits just off the kitchen, where wood cabinetry, stainless appliances, and a breakfast bar keep the cook close to everyone else.
The heated garage has been turned into a proper game room. A pool table takes the middle of the floor, with two TVs, an Xbox, a stack of board games, and a sectional couch for whoever is waiting on their turn. It is the spot the kids will claim first and the adults will drift into after dinner.
Three bedrooms and two full bathrooms sleep up to 10. The primary has a queen bed, the second bedroom has a queen bed, and the third holds a full-over-full bunk bed, a good fit for kids or friends who are easy about where they land. Full bathroom 1 has a walk-in shower, and full bathroom 2 has a shower and tub combo. A washer and dryer are tucked by the entry for longer stays.
Outside is where the home earns its name. A covered porch wraps the front, and out back a pergola shades an outdoor dining table strung with lights for dinners straight off the BBQ grill. A pyramid-style propane patio heater keeps the deck comfortable on cool nights, and down in the yard a fire pit sits ringed by chairs for marshmallows and slow conversation under the trees. A large driveway handles the whole group's cars, with room to spare for a trailer of skis or kayaks.
Beyond the community, Jack Frost is about 15 minutes away for a second mountain to ski, and Hickory Run State Park's boulder field is a similar drive for one of the stranger and more memorable hikes in Pennsylvania. Kalahari's indoor waterpark is about 20 minutes east, and the shops and restaurants of Lake Harmony and Jim Thorpe make easy day trips.
