The backyard is where the days end. There's a dining table for six, a BBQ for the evenings you'd rather cook outside, and a hanging chair that's hard to get out of once you're in it. As the temperature drops, the firepit seats six, and the hot tub sits under a gazebo --- the obvious landing spot after a day on the water or the slopes.
The location does the rest. Big Bear Lake is minutes away for boating, paddling and fishing, and the Village puts shops, coffee and casual dining within easy reach. Snow Summit runs the lifts year-round: skiing and snowboarding through winter, then lift-served mountain biking, hiking and scenic chair rides from late spring into October. Bear Mountain and its golf course sit two miles further on. Add the Alpine Zoo, the Discovery Center and a forest full of trailheads, and the only real difficulty is deciding what to skip.
